We had lots of fun at Funderland today Thursday April 24th!

Ash class have spent a number of weeks exploring The Great War. We have incorporated History, Geography , English, Maths, Art, Music and even PE into this theme.

We got our hands dirty in the field while digging miniature trenches. We were also lucky to meet the very knowledgeable Daniel from the museum in Fitzgearld’s Park who gave us a behind the scenes tour of some real life artefacts from the war.

SPHE in Ash class

Students learned to recognise and appreciate that each person is a unique individual!

It has been a busy Halloween week in school!

We created pumpkins from dryer hose this week. We then brought them to the field to create our very own Pumpkin Patch at St. Killian’s!

We discovered some pumpkin heads devouring our 3 ingredient Nutella cookies in the kitchen. Monstrous behaviour!!

Ash class entry into the Mayfield Matters DIY recycled craft competition.

The piece is created from plastic bottle tops, astro turf off cuts and antique buttons. Fingers crossed!

Halloween giant jenga at our outdoor classroom.

Some ghastly ghosts are spooking us out this week!

We really enjoyed our PE session at the Mardyke with the UCC PE students. While Luca looked very cool styling his hair following the session! We then went to Fitzgerald Park but we were met with conditions more suitable to ducks following the extreme weather and floods in Cork last week!

Ash Class have taken full advantage of our temporary classroom in the kitchen this week. Students have fully participated in the preparation and the devouring of this delicious vegetable soup. Special thanks to our in-house master chef Caroline for overseeing this fun life lesson!

Samples of artwork from an amazing artist in Ash class - Eulalia.

Ash class put their fine motor skills into action today with these multi step leaf sun catchers. The class worked in teams of 2 to complete each piece.

After spending the week revising 3D shapes, Ash class created their own versions.

We made some trendy necklaces today after forest school. We used a bow saw to cut the disks and a palm drill to make the hole. Then we got creative in class with the decoration.

We really enjoyed collecting these leaves and twigs at Forest School!
