Education Therapy Services

Our Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) and Occupational Therapist (OT) are part of the Education Therapy Services for schools.

This initiative provides in-school therapeutic support, enabling children to access timely and practical help within their everyday learning environment. The SLT supports pupils with speech, language, communication and social interaction skills, while the OT focuses on fine motor, sensory processing, self-regulation and independence skills.

Working collaboratively with teachers, Special Education staff and families, they contribute to inclusive practices that support all pupils to reach their full potential.

Sinéad O'Neill - Speech and Language Therapist

As part of our ongoing pilot project, Sinéad, our school-based Speech and Language Therapist, is working to create a communication-rich environment for all our students. She focuses on embedding universal practices across the school, including consistent visual systems, AAC integration on whiteboards, and specialized staff training. This term, Sinéad continues her targeted group sessions, leading Discovery Circles in our autism classes as well as C-Pen and Lámh groups within our multi-stream classes to ensure every child has the tools they need to succeed.

Olivia Downey- Occupational Therapist

Olivia, the school-based Occupational Therapist, has been running a number of initiatives in the school since September, including a whole school sensory toy and equipment order, sensory circuits everyday in the hall, and facilitating intervention including in-classroom regulation groups, life skills groups and circle time groups. Olivia will be running fine motor, handwriting and assistive technology groups for each class before the end of the school year and will be developing SPACE profiles in collaboration with Sinéad over the summer.
