Garda Pat Harrington, An Garda Siochana dog handler and our community Guard, Garda Helen Courtney came to visit us with the two Garda dogs, Lazer and Rex. We loved meeting them! Everyone was very excited and we heard all about the great work they do and how they are trained. Everyone got pet them and Garda Harrington showed us how Laser barks on command.

Football Numeracy Program

Cork City FC have completed their ‘The Football Numeracy Program’, visiting us every Thursday for 6 weeks. This programme uses the popularity of football to help develop practical numeracy skills of the students. Mr. Johnston’s and Ms. O’Connor’s took part in the numeracy skills and were joined by Ms. Coughlan’s and Ms. Daly’s classes for football skills.

Each session took place in a ‘double club’ format. The first half was classroom based with the pupils completing Maths activities in Cork City FC themed workbooks. The second 45 minutes was focused on football skills development using the school hall and finished with a very popular football match. On the last day Shane Griffin and John Kavanagh, defenders with Cork City FC, presented everyone with their certificates.

The students all really enjoyed the program and we will miss Chris and Erica’s visit to us each Thursday.

First Aid Room Project

Serve The City Cork recently sent in a team of volunteers to work on our First Aid room. We are very thankful for all their amazing work. New flooring has now been completed and we love the bright welcoming lemon colour of the presses!

Thank you Cory and all your team!
